Psychological Testing
Psychological Testing for Adults: Many individuals have described the psychological testing process as life changing.
Dr. Jen offers a variety of options for adults who are exploring different questions about themselves, such as questions around neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD, learning differences, giftedness, OCD), intellectual and executive functioning, personality traits, and mental/emotional health (depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, dissociative experiences, perceptual differences such as hallucinations, etc.).
Dr. Jen uses standardized testing and validated measures, along with clinical acumen, to offer answers to these questions as well as specific, individually-tailored recommendations for treatment, work or school, and information to help others to understand them better.
Psychological Testing for Kids and Teens: Psychological testing for those earlier in their journey can provide information and supports that can positively change the trajectory for kids and teens for the rest of their lives.
Dr. Jen offers a variety of options for kids and teens in need of a greater understanding of their brain-based strengths, differences, and how to best support them in all areas of life.
Psychological testing can assist kids and teens with getting access to important services, obtaining specific academic recommendations and accommodations to support success in the school setting, and learning how to best support kids and teens through therapy and at home with their loved ones.
Dr. Jen’s specialties include questions around neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD, learning differences, giftedness, OCD), intellectual and executive functioning, personality traits, and mental/emotional health (depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, dissociative experiences, perceptual differences such as hallucinations, etc.).
Dr. Jen works with kids and teens ages 8 and up with verbal fluency (able to communicate with language- may use verbal communication or written communication in cases of selective mutism).

Additionally, please provide Dr. Jen with any prior evaluation reports, Individualized Education Plans, or any other records that you believe are important as part of the assessment. If you have an individual therapist working with your family, Dr. Jen will consult with your child/teen’s therapist to gain their perspective with your consent.

Testing sessions can range in terms of length of each session and number of sessions. Most often, Dr. Jen will offer two testing sessions that can last from 3-4 hours. Certain tests are best administered in the morning, otherwise timing is flexible. Dr. Jen offers weekend appointments for testing as well.
Please bring: water/hydration, snacks and/or a lunch, and glasses, contacts, and/or hearing aids (if worn) to ensure visual or auditory differences do not impact testing.
For kids/teens: please also bring activities and things to do for both your child and yourself. Dr. Jen will typically meet with parents for 1-2 hours for the initial interview, then spend the rest of the time with your child/teen.
Testing sessions will include performance tests (examples include computer-based testing, visual puzzles or activities, verbal knowledge, social interaction and understanding, speed and memory assessments), behavioral assessments and observations, and interview questions. Measures are selected based on your testing questions and package. Dr. Jen will also screen for other concerns that may be important to explore.
Dr. Jen will inform you if any additional testing is recommended based on screenings for other concerns.
-
Dr. Jen will compile and interpret your testing results and meet with you for a 1-2 hour session to review the results, diagnosis, and recommendations going forward. At the feedback session, Dr. Jen will provide a comprehensive written report detailing all of this information for you to keep and share with whoever you wish (sometimes this includes individual therapists, schools, or family members).
For adults: Dr. Jen will offer an individual feedback session, but you are welcome to involve loved ones/support people in this session if you wish. Dr. Jen can also meet with you initially and invite your loved one into the latter portion of the session. Let Dr. Jen know your needs and requests.
For kids/teens:Dr. Jen will present a fun powerpoint with kid-friendly information for kids and younger teens. This powerpoint usually includes your child’s strengths, ways of thinking/learning, areas in need of support, and recommendations. Dr. Jen will talk with you about how much diagnostic information to include based on your family’s needs and requests. For older teens, Dr. Jen will include them in the entire feedback session.
